I was lucky enough to have met Rod Serling as my professor in Broadcast Writing as a TV/Radio Major at Ithaca College in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was one of the most brilliant, approachable and modest men I ever met! We had some wonderful one on ones, and one evening I was part of a small group he invited to join him to watch some Twilight Zone episodes and also an episode of his TV series The Loner in the screening room at Ithaca College. He explained how the Twilight Zone episode “Walking Distance” was somewhat autobiographical and was inspired by a visit he made to Recreation Park in Binghamton, NY. One of America’s truly great writers and visionaries!
